Once again, we had another fabulous
event! January was the time for our
Bordeaux wine tasting in New York
City named
UNION GRANDS CRUS
Bordeaux.
This wine tasting has been
held for many, many years...
which
began in New York City, then was
held in Chicago
and traveled
elsewhere.
This wine tasting is produced by
Balzac Communication and headed by
hard working and charming President:
Michael Wangbickler. He has nearly
30 years of experience in marketing
and public relations.
When attending and tasting these
marvelous wines you can see how fun
these wine tastings are due to the
wonderfully planning and skills
involved. Mike's professionalism and
great past experience makes this
such a succesfull event, with
expertise, organization and always
coming off so effortless. You can
see this clearly by how the
reception table to the coat check to
the professional food servers
serving food are handled - they are
very, very highly organized.
Mike is a trusted advisor and
strategic consultant to his clients.
While others are frozen when faced
with barriers, he gets energized by
this and truly relishes analyzing
problems, finding out what is
wrong...then providing them with
innovative solutions. His strategic
mind enables him to sort and sift
through the noise and find the best
way forward. Mike embraces ambiguity
and can identify paths to real
progress... We thank him for all the
good work that he does every year.
As you all know the best French
wines are the ones that come from
Bordeaux. There are no wines that
come from that region that are poor.
All the wines selected and presented
are delicous and fabulous.
Several Regions are represented in
this day like Pessac-Leognan,
Graves, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru,
Pomerol, Listrac-Medoc,
Moulis-En-Medoc, Haut-Medoc, Medoc,
Saint-Julien, Pauillac, Saint-Estephe,
Sauternes and Barsac. All these
regions have the finest, best
delicious wines. The owners of the
wineries in this region all own
castles - that is why the names of
the winery starts with Chateau which
means castle in English.
I was glad to see my long time
friends from different wineries
including Chateau De France, Chateau
Gloria, Chateau Malartic-Lagraviere,
new friends from Chateau Clinet,
Chateau Le Gay and many others who
brought their finest wines for the
wine connoisseurs of the Tri-State
area to taste their delicous wines.
I also met Fanny Spironelli from
Avignon and New York.
Chateau De France is in the
Pessac-Leognan region run by the
Thomassin family, headed by Arnaud
Thomassin a very charming man. They
produce both white and red wines.
Their wines are made of RED which is
55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45%
Merlot. White is 80% Cabernet
Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon.
Chateau De France is a 44 hectares
winery located at the highest slope
of Leognan on the tallest of four
gravelly terraces by the Garonne
River over many years where the
banks burst. The microclimate and
unusual nature of the soil account
for the unique taste of their
exceptional wines. Chateau De France
wines are distributed all over the
world and of course, in France. The
fine wines reputation is an
acknowledgement of their quality as
well as the major efforts of the
company for 40 years. Please check
out their website: www.chateau-de-france.com.
Chateau De Malartic-Lagraviere is 73
hectares winery located at one of
the region's most beautiful gravelly
rises in the Pessac-Leognan Region.
The Chateau was bought by Count of
Malartic in the 18th century. In
1997, the Bonnie family worked hard
to enhance their delicious wines.
They have an eco-friendly philosophy
promoting limited human intervention
that respects biodiversity. The
wines are made of grape varieties of
RED: 55% Merlot, 42% Cabernet
Sauvignon 2% Petit Verdot and 1%
Cabarnet Blanc. WHITE: 79% Sauvignon
Blanc and 21% Semillon. Drawn
carriage and crops that are cover
and maintained by grazing animals.
Malartic Wines are intense and well
balanced and elegant high end
signature. That is why they are
called the Jewel of Bordeaux.

Chateau Gloria is from the Saint-Julien
Region and owned by the Triaud
family. A side note: I am so proud
that their is a Chateau and Wines
with my name on them. Chateau Gloria
consistts of 50 hectares, the first
project of Henri Martin, it was also
his life and he served as the Mayor
of Saint-Julien-Bechevelle in Medoc
for 40 years. Henri revived the
ancient fame of the village. Chateau
Gloria Wines are a work of a real
wine connoisseur and sold all over
the world. The wines are made of 65%
Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5%
Cabernet Frac, and 5%Petit Verdot.
