Books, celebrity and the Hamptons’
summer social scene converged on
Saturday, August 8, as the East Hampton
Library hosted its 22nd Annual Authors
Night at Herrick Park. Now one of the
Hamptons’ signature summer events, the
fundraiser brought together 100 authors
representing an extraordinary
cross-section of literature, journalism,
entertainment, business and popular
culture.
Among the evening’s most recognizable
celebrity and literary authors names
were Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer
Robert A. Caro, astrophysicist Neil
deGrasse Tyson, whose work has helped
bring science to millions of readers and
viewers, Carol Liefer, Jay McInerny, Don
Lemon, Florence Fabricant, Stewart F.
Lane, Tom Freston, Amy Zerner, Leslie
Gelb, Michael Gross, James F. Comley and
Elisa Port among others.
. Under the grand tent, guests enjoyed
cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and the
opportunity to meet authors, purchase
books and have them personally inscribed
before select guests continued to
private dinner parties honoring
participating writers.
The event is organized with the
leadership of Library Director Dennis
Fabiszak, whose work has helped make
Authors Night one of the institution’s
most important annual fundraisers. Alec
Baldwin has also been connected to
Authors Night as a founding honorary
chair.
Proceeds support the East Hampton
Library’s free programs and services
throughout the year.
