On Thursday, August 22, Lifebeat - Music Fights
HIV/AIDS, celebrated the return of the Video
Music Awards to New York and kicked off an
aggressive campaign to fight the alarming rise of
HIV/AIDS among young Americans ages 13-24. Lifebeat,
the leading national nonprofit for HIV/AIDS prevention
among teens, will mobilize celebrity talent and will
work with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and media
giants such as MTV to launch the campaign.
The party, hosted by Board Member Maneesh
K. Goyal, included media and music industry insiders,
musical artists and philanthropically-minded people from
across the U.S.
“With 1000 kids infected with HIV/AIDS
each month, Lifebeat is on the frontlines to fight this
epidemic”, said Board President Gary Dell’Abate,
producer of the Howard Stern Show. The following night,
the 11th Annual VMA Benefit for Lifebeat,
hosted by Time Warner Cable, featured performances by
musical artists such as Robin Thicke and Macklemore &
Ryan Lewis.
