Celebrities Gathered to Support Women Like Us Foundation
Hosted by Catt Sadler of E! News
WHAT:
E! News Weekend Host, Catt Sadler and International
Spokesperson of Women Like Us Foundation hosted the
One Girl at a Time: A Red Carpet Fundraising Event to
benefit her charity the Women like Us Foundation at The
Aventine Hollywood.
Women Like Us is a non-profit dedicated to encourage,
empower, and engage women and girls to make a difference
locally and globally, benefiting the foundation’s One Girl
At A Time mentoring program.
More
than 250 guests gathered in support
of the philanthropic event aimed towards raising funds for
an upcoming mentor program benefitting
the sponsorship of 4 at-risk youths, sending the girls on a
humanitarian trip to
Costa Rica in October of 2013. Through this trip, the girls
will be participating in extensive enrichment programs
educating the girls about other cultures, productivity and
positivity programs and activities where they will help even
less–fortunate children to rebuild schools and participate
in changing the lives of other teen girls...One Girl at a
time!
An estimated $10,000 for the One Girl at a Time Program was
raised via donations, raffles and silent auctions from
honorable donors including Calle Tacos, Playhouse and Sound
Nightclubs, Xochi Los Angeles, L’Occitane, Kendra Scott, and
E news Tour. Guests were inspired by the amazing brave girls
from the Dream Center then listen to line beats of DJ Eque
throughout the night and musical performances by Jamar
Rogers, Second Nature, Stephan Petree and Didi Benami.
Guest were touched, moved and inspired by our
Los Angeles City Council Member and Former Senator, Gil
Cedillo when he rallied the crowd to donate. Gill Cedillo
matched the crowd’s donation and purchased the Dream Center
Girls Painting. “The
event exceeded our expectations," says Catt Sadler, "Not
only did we raise money to continue growing our mentorship
program in Los Angeles but many who attended have been
inspired to get involved with our charity."
