Dinner Raises Over $1.8 million to Benefit New York City’s
Disadvantaged Youth
Continuing their dedication to Catholic school students in
New York City, 350 guests raised over $1.8 million at the 37th Annual
Inner-City Scholarship Fund Award Dinner on
Monday, December 16, 2013 at the New York Public Library in
Manhattan.
His Eminence, Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop
of New York, presented the Inner-City Scholarship Fund Award
to Melody
and Sam Di Piazza for
their commitment to Inner-City Scholarship Fund (ICSF). ICSF
is the city’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to
providing tuition assistance for low-income students
attending ICSF-supported inner-city Catholic schools within
the Archdiocese of New York.
“There is no greater gift than providing a child with
a quality education,” said Susan
George, Executive
Director of ICSF. “The supporters in this room, particularly
Melody and Sam Di Piazza, have affected the lives of
countless students through their commitment and support
of Catholic schools.”

as the event’s Master of Ceremonies.
The evening’s program featured a silent auction which
included a dinner prepared by famed Chef Lidia Bastianich, a
tour of Theodore Roosevelt's Sagamore Hill home guided by
award winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin and a dinner
for two with His Eminence, Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan.
Guests were also treated to performances by The Saint
Barnabas and Mount Saint Michael School Choirs, and Angela
Meade, Operatic Soprano with the Metropolitan Opera
performed.
About Inner-City Scholarship Fund
Inner-City Scholarship Fund (ICSF) was founded in 1971 by
the late Terence Cardinal Cooke and a group of prominent
executives of many religious beliefs. ICSF provides tuition
assistance to over 7,000 students (93% minority and 36%
non-Catholic) in 79 inner-city Catholic schools in
Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island. An astonishing 96%
percent of graduates from ICSF supported schools pursue
college at some of the finest universities in the nation.
