Quincy Jones, composer,
arranger, producer and winner of 27 Grammy Awards;
Jay Hershenson, Senior
Vice Chancellor of the City University of New York;
Dan Morgenstern, Jazz
historian and winner of nine Grammy Awards; and
Grace Lawrence, renowned Queens civic leader,
were honored by the Louis Armstrong House Museum for their
dedicated work to preserve and promote the cultural legacy
of Louis Armstrong at the Museum's annual gala on Wednesday
December 11, 2013 at 6 p.m Special performance by Vince
Giordano & the Nighthawks, who won a Grammy for their music
on the HBO television series "Boardwalk Empire." George
Avakian, the mastermind behind classic Armstrong albums such
as Louis
Armstrong played
W. C. Handy and Satch
Plays Fats, introduced Jones.
