The 12th
Annual Women Together Gala held on June 7th,
2016 at the United Nations. This year’s special
award recipient, Iris Apfel,
a fashion icon and global personality, lauded
for her lifelong dedication to artisans around
the world. Other awardees included Rosario
Dawson,
for her sustainable clothing line created by
artisans in Africa with her program Studio 189,
The the Rainieri family’s Punta Cana Foundation,
Fundacion Loewe and the Loewe Foundation,
Carolina Gonzales Bunster and her Walkabout
Foundation, Fundacion Escuela Taller De
Barichara and Foundation Margarita Escobar
Field.
The Gala Awards ceremony was held in the General
Assembly Hall of the United Nations. The master
of ceremonies was Carlos Jimenez-Renjifo and the
beautiful Malu Edwards, wearing a stunning dress
designed by Naeem Khan. This Black Tie Gala had
all the women dressed so beautifully, creatively
and just looking elegant. Once I got up from the
table, everyone swooned around Iris to chit chat
and take selfies. This "Geriatric Starlet" was
the life of the party. Mar Flores, from Spain
was dressed most elegantly in a Yellow “Naeem
Khan”fabulous design.
The
Women Together Foundation Awards promote the
adoption of ethical, philosophical, moral,
scientific, and cultural values that open new
horizons for the future of humanity. The women
together Awards are granted annually and seek to
recognize the valuable contributions women, men,
and institutions in different areas of personal
and professional performance. Dedicated to the
creation of a more equal society, working
strongly in favor of human rights and the fight
against inequality, environmental conservation,
health and support to the arts, culture and
poverty eradication.
