Thanks to Professor
Jacob Rowe, both Rambam and Shaare Zedek have been
designated as the only two hospitals in Israel who have
direct collaboration with the National Cancer Institute
(NCI) and the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) in
clinical studies. As ECOG members, patients with acute
and chronic leukemias, lymphomas and myeloma participate in
joint phase 1, phase 11 and phase 111 studies. A joint
database of patients with hematologic malignancies and bone
marrow transplantation will be set up as well as an
important data bank for future basic research and
transitional studies.
Rambam and Shaare Zedek will collaborate on transitional and
basic research projects evolving from initiatives developed
in both medical centers.
There will be an important collaboration in the areas of
education. Trainees and junior faculty from both
instutuions will participate in short and long term
rotations in each other's centers helping to foster clinical
and educational activities.
