NEW YORK (May 10, 2017) –
The annual Lying-In Luncheon to benefit the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill
Cornell Medical Center’s Department of Obstetrics and
Gynecology raised over $530,000 on Tuesday, May 9. Over
400 guests attended the event, which included a fashion
show featuring Oscar de la Renta’s Fall 2017 collection,
at Cipriani 42nd Street.
Hosted by Dr.
Laura L. Forese, executive vice president and chief
operating officer of NewYork-Presbyterian, and Dr. Frank
A. Chervenak, obstetrician and gynecologist-in-chief at
NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, the
luncheon’s main event featured an exclusive lineup of
Oscar de la Renta’s Fall 2017 collection designed by
Creative Directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia.
Funds from the event will
benefit NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell’s Department
of Obstetrics and Gynecology, whose specialties include
general obstetrics/gynecology, gynecologic oncology,
infectious disease and immunology, maternal/fetal
medicine and reproductive endocrinology.
NewYork-Presbyterian’s
leadership in women’s health dates back to 1799 with the
founding of The Lying-In Hospital – New York’s first
center devoted solely to the care of women in
childbirth. Today, NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell’s
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a leader in
its field, setting standards in patient care, research,
training and community outreach.
The Alexandra Cohen
Hospital for Women and Newborns, which will be located
on the top six floors of NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill
Cornell Medical Center’s David H. Koch building, will
help continue the mission and commitment to excellence
in clinical care, education and the empowerment of
patients. When completed, in 2020, this innovative
facility will triple the current capacity to care for
women and newborns at the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill
Cornell campus.
