NEW YORK (November 4, 2016) –
NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital and
the Sloane Hospital for Women, along with journalist and
television host Meredith Vieira, held its annual Amazing
Kids, Amazing Care Dinner on
Wednesday, November 2, at the JW
Marriott Essex House in
Manhattan to celebrate the extraordinary care the Hospital
provides for pediatric patients and their families. NewYork-Presbyterian
Trustee and Hearst CEO Steven R. Swartz, and his wife Tina,
served as Trustee Chairs of the evening’s event which raised
over $675,000 in support of both NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan
Stanley Children’s Hospital and the Sloane Hospital for
Women, which provides care for women and children.
Vieira, who acted as the event’s celebrity emcee, and Dr.
Steven J. Corwin, President and Chief Executive Officer of
NewYork-Presbyterian were joined by 320 guests. Previously
known as the “Birthday Bash,” this is the 4th year
NewYork-Presbyterian has celebrated the world-class and
compassionate care it provides for families and children.
This year, the Sloane Hospital for Women and NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan
Stanley Children’s Hospital were celebrated at the event for
their collaboration in caring for high–risk expectant
mothers and critically ill newborns.
During the event, a $5,000,000 gift was
announced from the grandchildren of Vivian and the late
Seymour Milstein to name the new Infant Cardiac Unit at
NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital.
Toby Milstein spoke at the dinner representing the
grandchildren, and remarked “we came together to continue
our family’s legacy of supporting the Hospital. Heart
health is very important to our family and for the next
generation of the Milstein Family to be able to help the
next generation of patients is heartwarming.” Their gift
will help create a new 17-bed infant cardiac unit to care
for the youngest and most vulnerable patients. The Infant
Cardiac Unit is set to open in June of 2017.
A leader in research and patient care since it was
established as the Babies Hospital in 1887, NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan
Stanley Children’s Hospital opened in 2003 as an innovative
facility with critical and neonatal intensive care
facilities, providing the highest quality care for pediatric
patients from around the region. NewYork-Presbyterian
Hospital is ranked in 10 pediatric specialties in the
2015-16 U.S.
News & World Report “Best
Children's Hospitals” survey — more than any other
children’s hospital in the New York metropolitan area.
When it opened in 1887, the Sloane Hospital for Women was
the first hospital in New York solely devoted to women’s
healthcare. Its innovative treatments linked obstetrics to
gynecology, and it quickly developed a reputation for
exceptional patient care and low mortality rates. Now
a part of NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia
University Irving Medical Center, The Sloane Hospital for
Women brings together a vast spectrum of specialists,
resources and programs uniquely designed to meet the health
needs of women throughout their lives.
