USA Track & Field celebrated its iconic legends and 2016
Olympic stars at the second annual USATF Black
Tie & Sneakers Gala at
The Armory in Manhattan on November 3. The dinner,
benefiting USATF's Elite Mentorship Program, featured the
National Track & Field Hall of Fame Class of 2016 induction
ceremony as well as the Legacy and Groundbreaker Awards
presentations.
WHAT:
The
USATF Black Tie & Sneakers Gala brought together the sport's
past and future stars to support the USATF Elite
Mentorship Program and Hall of Fame. Those honored included Jackie
Joyner-Kersee (Legacy Award), Dick Fosbury (Legacy Award)
the USATF Foundation/Bob Greifeld, CEO (Groundbreaker
Award), as well as the 2016 Hall of Fame Inductees: Buddy
Edelen, Al Feuerbach, Connie Price-Smith, Butch Reynolds and
Frank Zarnowski.
The Elite Mentorship connects USATF top
athletes with business executives, former athletes and
career coaches to prepare them for success after their
competitive careers conclude. USATF Hall of Fame is the
sport's highest honor and boasts over 250 legends since its
establishment in 1974.
