Hillary Clinton honored with
Inaugural Michael Kors Awards for
Community Service; Over $3
million raised for
NYC nonprofit
NEW YORK - October 21, 2013 - More
than 700 guests attended God's
Love We Deliver's
Seventh Annual Golden Heart Awards on Wednesday, October 16,
raising over $3 million for the New York non-profit and
making it the largest and most successful event in the
organization's 28-year history.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was
presented with the first-ever Michael Kors Award for
Outstanding Community Service by fashion designer and God's
Love board member Michael Kors and Conde Nast Artistic
Director and Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. Upon
receiving her award, Clinton spoke about the unique American
quality to solve problems as a community and the increased
importance of giving in this time of economic uncertainty.
"It's
a true testament to all of the amazing work that God's Love
We Deliver has done for others over the years," said Michael
Kors. "They have given so much to so many people and the
funds we raised will be put to the
best use possible."
In addition to Secretary Clinton, Aerin Lauder, who is the
creative director at Estee Lauder Companies and a longtime
philanthropist, was presented with the Golden Heart Award
for Lifetime Achievement by renowned fashion model Iman.
Karen Pearl also presented Jeff Gates and Mike Moran, both
long-time volunteers and donors, with the Golden Heart Award
for Outstanding Volunteerism.
"Jeff
and Mike, separately and together, have had an enormous
impact on God's Love," said Karen Pearl, God's Love
President & CEO. "As volunteers, donors and two of our
greatest ambassadors, their passion for God's Love and
commitment to our mission has never wavered. They have been
with us through twenty years of our history and have helped
lead our Expansion Campaign. This Golden Heart Award for
Outstanding Volunteerism is perfectly made for them. We are
grateful for their leadership, friendship and profound
commitment to the success of God's Love We Deliver."
The sold-out gala, which was held at Spring Studios in
Manhattan, featured a welcome from famed singer-songwriter,
actress, and comedian Bette Midler, dinner, awards
presentation and a live auction.
Other attendees included Hilary Swank, Jennifer Hudson,
Olivia Munn, Iman, Sigourney Weaver, Kyle Maclachlan,
Julianna Margulies, Aerin Lauder, Jane Lauder, Blaine Trump,

The Golden Heart Awards are presented annually by God's Love
to honor the important contributions of individuals,
corporations and foundations to the organization's cause.
Funds raised at the event help ensure that no person in the
metropolitan area suffers the dual crises of hunger and
life-altering illness.

Deliver
God's Love is the New York metropolitan area's leading
provider of life-sustaining meals and nutritional counseling
for people living with severe illnesses. Begun as an
HIV/AIDS service organization, today God's Love provides for
people living with more than 200 individual diagnoses. God's
Love cooks and home delivers the specific, nutritious meals
