Harboring
Hearts' Legion of Hearts Day
at Mount Sinai Hospital
Harboring Hearts
sponsored the Legion of Hearts day at Mount Sinai Hospital
in collaboration with the American Heart Association and
Sephora on Monday, October 7th.
Pediatric heart patients and their family members joined
Harboring Hearts co-founder Michelle
Javian, philanthropist Sharon
Bush, Skylar Brandt (winner of the 2013 Princess Grace
Dance Fellowship Award) andvolunteers of Mount
Sinai's pediatric cardiology mentor program for the special
day. Sephora makeup artists applied makeup and face
paint to the patients and family members, turning them into
super heroes for the day. Wonder Woman also made a special
appearance and Sharon Bush provided teddy bears to the
children, which brought joy to the morning, providing
respite from their patients' daily medical routines. Families
enjoyed a heart healthy breakfast and snacks as well as Zico
Coconut Water, while participating in arts & crafts, which
included designing their own capes to complete their super
hero look.
Harboring Hearts (www.harboringhearts.org) is
the only nonprofit organization specifically dedicated to
providing affordable, short-term housing for the heart
patients and their families that travel to New York City for
lifesaving medical treatment.
