RAISES OVER $450,000 TO SUPPORT PEDIATRIC PATIENT CARE PROGRAMS

New York (October 18, 2016) –
More than 800 kids with their families joined hospital
leadership and dressed as ghosts, police officers, superheroes
and more at the 27th annual Light
Up A Life Halloween
carnival, benefitting the Phyllis and David Komansky Center for
Children’s Health at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical
Center on Saturday, October 15, at the Field House at Chelsea
Piers. The
event, sponsored exclusively by luxury retailer Saks Fifth
Avenue, raised more than $450,000 to benefit pediatric patient
care programs.
The festive atmosphere featured games and activities including soccer
drills with members of the New York City Football Club, face
painting, balloon art, batting cages, a rock-climbing wall,
carnival games and musical entertainment, in addition to health
and safety related activities, including interactive tours of an
ambulance and bike helmet fittings.
Proceeds from
the event will
benefit pediatric patient care programs including: Child
Life Services, a program that helps alleviate children’s
fears surrounding the hospital experience; The
Pediatric Emergency Department, which provides
emergency care to ill and injured children 24 hours a day, seven
days a week; The
Family Advisory Council, a group of dedicated family members
committed to providing exceptional, family-centered care to all
patients; and The
Pediatric Fellows program,
supporting postdoctoral training in pediatrics.
