Judith Klinek, a lifetime
educator and the Palm Beach County School District’s
assistant superintendent of grants administration and school
reform accountability, has been named to the board of
directors of Take Stock in Children of Palm Beach County.
“We are very pleased to have Judith joining our board,” said
Mark Bideau, president of the board of Take Stock in
Children of Palm Beach County, a non-profit organization
with a proven record of helping children from low-income
families graduate from high school and receive fully paid,
Florida pre-paid college scholarships. ”In her role as an
educator and administrator Judith has a thorough
understanding of the importance of dropout prevention
through successful mentoring programs.”
Klinek began her career in Palm Beach County in 1983 as a
teacher at Logger’s Run Community Middle School in Boca
Raton. She later went on to become principal at Omni Middle
School and then Logger’s Run Middle School before becoming
an area director for educational services. After serving in
several other administrative positions, Klinek was named
assistant superintendent for learning support in 2008 and
appointed to her current position in 2009.
During her career Klinek has focused on programs that keep
students in school and on grade level and has shown a
continued passion for helping students prepare for a career
or college, enabling them to have choices and opportunities.
“I am honored to be serving on the board of Take Stock in
Children along with so many community leaders dedicated to
improving the lives of young people in our community,”
Klinek said. “This organization and its mentors continue to
have an important impact in Palm Beach County.”
About Take Stock in Children of Palm Beach County
Take Stock in Children of Palm Beach County is a
501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to provide
full Florida pre-paid scholarships to foster long-term
success in children from low-income families. By contract
with the organization, each student promises to remain crime
and drug free, graduate from high school, and become
positive, productive citizens. Upon program completion, a
scholarship is awarded. All program costs and scholarships
are paid for in partnership with state government,
businesses, school systems, social service agencies, civic
and religious organizations, as well as with private
citizens. Take Stock in Children of Palm Beach County
currently supports over 200 children annually and
consistently graduates nearly 90 percent of its student
population. Statewide, Take Stock in Children has served
more than 16,000 children in 67 counties, provided over
$109 million in scholarships, and more than 7,500 mentors
volunteered over 1 million hours. |
