Every June, exactly two weeks after the Grad Prix, Monaco
hosts the Bal D' Ete (translates Summer Ball) at the Star
Light Room. Approximately a 1000 attendees from all over the
world attend this themed, 3 day, invitation only event.
Because of the small size of Monaco the whole city is filled
with a group of friends that meet each year at this time to
celebrate. Each year has a different international theme.
This years was Lawrence of Arabia meets Cleopatra with guest
host Omar Al- Sherif and Egypt's royal family. The Ball is
at the Famed Salle des Etoile (room of the stars) that roof
and wall disappear leaving you to view the Mediterranean and
gaze at the stars.
The 3 day soiree officially started Friday, June 8 with a pool
side reception at the Beach Club, Saturday was an outside
cocktail party, into the sit down dinner gala, continuing at
Jimmy's nightclub and on Sunday there was a wrap- up brunch
where attendees say good-bye until next year. It is often
the unofficial parties during the days that are remembered
with the fondest memories. Unlike many Balls the attendee
often attend single as well as in couples as it has the air
of good friends getting together.
