The dream of Dor Chadash
was born in October of 2003
and has since grown by leaps and
bounds, developing more than 40
cutting-edge educational, social,
cultural, and social action events
each year on behalf of Israel.
The organization’s membership
represents a broad spectrum of Jews
living in the US – from secular to
Modern Orthodox; Israeli and
American; single and married. In
just five years, the organization
has changed the face of the New York
Jewish community, building a
membership of nearly 12,000 strong.
Dor Chadash’s success means that
many more Israeli and American Jews
have an environment in which they
can meaningfully connect to Israel
and each other while living in New
York.
Most important is the fact that many
of the individuals who
participate in the organization’s
programming were previously
unaffiliated and have stated they
would otherwise not be involved in
Jewish life. Because of their
involvement with Dor Chadash, they
regularly attend Jewish events,
volunteer at Jewish organizations,
and/or help grow new initiatives and
programming. As we launch our
newest programming effort for
families this year, there is
tremendous potential to expand this
proven model to other cities across
the country, including plans to
launch Dor Chadash in Los Angeles
and at least one other major
metropolitan area in the coming
year.
The
Dor Chadash Inaugural Gala on
Tuesday, December 9th in the Grand
Ballroom of the Roosevelt Hotel in
Manhattan
will celebrate the
organization’s 5th Anniversary,
include a full concert by renowned
Israeli rock star Rami Kleinstein,
and honor former Israeli Ambassador
to the United Nations Dan Gillerman,
recipient of the Dor Chadash
Lifetime Achievement Award.
