(Palm Beach, FL--)
Good things come to those who
wait, and the time has come to
celebrate the “Slow Food”
movement, which aims to enhance
the palate by connecting us to
the bounty of food available in
our community, while fortifying
the health of the planet.
On Thurs, Dec. 11, Chef Zach
Bell and Chef Patissier Matthew
Petersen will host the first
Grower’s Discovery Dinner of the
newly formed "Glades to Coast"
chapter of Slow Food
USA at Café Boulud. The five-course
dinner will incorporate the
finest meats, seafood and
produce cultivated in our area
from local and sustainable
producers.
“I am proud to host the first
grower’s discovery dinner of the
newly formed Glades to Coast
chapter of Slow Food USA. This convivium encompasses all
of Broward as well as Southern
and Central Palm Beach County,
The producers who are generously
supporting this dinner include
Walter Ross of Farmhouse
Heirlooms in Boynton Beach,
Swank Specialty Produce in
Loxohatchee, Aquaculture in
Lakeland, Deep Creek Ranch in
Deland and Palm Beach Groves in
Lantana,” said Chef Zach Bell.
Heirloom tomatoes, eggplants and
zucchini, picked just hours
before the meal, will be served,
along with freshly caught
Florida Keys Yellowtail Snapper
and Deep Creek Ranch Lamb from
Deland. The meal will conclude
with
Florida's
crown jewels, fresh winter
citrus. The savory fare will be
paired with the finest
bio-dynamic wines from Henry
Davis Organic Selection. Dinner
begins at 7 pm, and costs $125
per person, which includes tax,
gratuity and a $25 donation to
Slow Food’s “Glades to Coast”
convivium. For information and
reservations call 561 655-6060.
Slow Food is a non-profit,
eco-gastronomic member-supported
organization that was founded in
1989 to counteract fast food and
fast life, the disappearance of
local food traditions and
people’s dwindling interest in
the food they eat, where it
comes from, how it tastes and
how our food choices affect the
rest of the world. Slow Food is
an idea, a way of living and a
way of eating. It is a global,
grassroots movement with
thousands of members around the
world that links the pleasure of
food with a commitment to
community and the environment.
