Anniversary Gala and Silent
Auction will take place at the
New York Hilton Hotel, 1335
Avenue of the Americas on
Wednesday, November 12, 2008.
SoBRO (acronym for the South
Bronx Overall Economic
Development Corporation) founded
in 1972 by a consortium of
banks, community representative
and business has worked for over
three decades to enhance the
quality of life in the South
Bronx by strengthening
businesses, creating and
implementing innovative economic
and housing initiatives and
providing quality educational
and career development for youth
and adults. The evening will
feature a cocktail reception at
6:30 PM followed by a silent
auction of jewelry, arts and
celebrity sports packages,
dinner and awards presentation
at 7:30 PM and dancing to the
sounds of The Bartlett
Contemporaries. The event
benefits SoBRO’s youth and adult
educational programs. Slated to
be honored for their
contributions to the betterment
of The Bronx are: Turner
