As the 227
guests entered the ballroom at Mar-a-Lago on February 9,
2009 for the 18th Annual Hab-a-Hearts Luncheon,
they were dazzled by color… the tables featured “South
Beach” inspired coral & white or blue & white table cloths
with a white orchid centerpiece in a white glass vase.
Hanging on the chair was the Evelyn & Arthur signature coral
goodie bags with blue tissue. During the complimentary wine
reception hosted by Diageo, guests proceeded to spend almost
$25,000 on over 300 silent auction items. Throughout the
event, Perfect 1864 Vodka provided free “Hab-a-Tinis” for
all the guests.
Auctioneer and Committee
Member Jim Accursio served as emcee and started the luncheon
by introducing Pat Schweikart, Chair, and Linda Reichenstein,
Co-Chair. Pat and Linda thanked the Committee Members for
their hard work and all the guests for attending. Kay Lang,
who was unable to attend, was recognized as the 2009 Queen
of Hearts. While dining on filet mignon and enjoying
informal modeling of fashion from the Shoppes of Plaza del
Mar, Accursio raised $11,150 in a live auction that included
brunch for four at Mar-a-Lago, a $1,500 gift certificate for
VacationsToGo, a Burberry Leather Golf Luggage set, an
engravable bottle of Johnny Walker Blue, and variety of
other itemsl.
