Wednesday, February 4th at the Marriott
Marquis Times Square
The
2011 World Police & Fire Games—which will
come on the 10-year anniversary of 9/11—will involve 18,000 athletes from
more than 70 NATIONS, competing in 65 sporting events AT
VENUES throughout the five boroughs. All athletes WILL
BE active or retired police officers or firefighters. More than 35,000
visitors are expected for the 2011 games.
THE WORLD POLICE &
FIRE GAMES are
the largest sporting event in the world, after the
summer olympics. NEW YORK CITY WON THE BID
FOR THE 2011 GAMES, DESPITE TOUGH INTERNATIONAL
COMPETITION. COMMITTEE MEMBERS FROM THE 2009 VANCOUVER
GAMES AND 2013 NORTHERN IRELAND GAMES WERE ON HAND AT
WEDNESDAY’S DINNER.
