The Boca Raton Museum of
Art welcomed art supporters from throughout the community to its
19th Annual Auction and Dinner recently at the Delray Beach
Marriott. The annual event, which helps to fund the Museum’s
continued community outreach and educational programming,
benefiting the cultural life residents and visitors to South
Florida, was hosted by the Museum’s Friends Auxiliary.
The auction was orchestrated by Neil Saffer of Saffer Auction
Company, Boca Raton. A few of the exceptional offerings that
were auctioned off included one-of-a-kind artwork by Dorothy
Gillespie, Chihuly hand-blown glass, Tiffany & Co. jewelry and a
thirty minute flight for 2 on the Goodyear Blimp. Also among the
various bid items were exciting trips such as a 4-night stay for
2 at the Canyon Ranch in Tuscon, Arizona, which included $600
per person towards a spa visit or other amenities and a 2-night
stay at Claridge’s hotel in London, England.
Mike Gora, President, Board of Trustees, welcomed guests and
honored chairpersons Doreen and Robert Alrod, who in turn
recognized the hard work of Auction volunteers, Valerie Johnson,
Marlene Pomeranz, Mary Stern, Roz Yewdell and Betty and Marvin
Koenig, among others.
“As we all know, these are very difficult economic times,” said
Doreen Alrod. “The economic success of this annual fundraiser
would not have been possible without the tireless efforts and
hundreds of volunteer hours put in by everyone on the planning
committee.”
