About Matt Nolen:
Ceramics provides the means by which Matt Nolen,
painter, storyteller
and architect, can marry his loves: the painted
surface, the three
dimensional form and narrative content. Currently,
he thrives on
pursuing projects that allow him to create
architectural installations
and sculptures that explore the role of ceramics in
the public realm.
About Jessica Pinsky:
Jessica Pinsky uses a narrative format to confront
her own
spirituality, as well as humor, love, magic and
death. The hierarchy
of paint application and synchronicity of subject
matter combine to
create a cohesive story about the bridge between
imagination and
reality. Her work features small sewn pieces of oil
on canvas with
thread, etchings on handmade paper and narrative oil
paintings on
canvas.
About the Tzedakah Fund of Temple Israel:
Rabbi David Gelfand and Temple Israel in New York
City established the
Tzedakah Fund of Temple Israel to help the hungry
and care for those
in need in Manhattan and around the world. The fund
benefits a
multitude of programs including homebound cooking
and food delivery
programs; food, electronics, book, toiletries and
winter coat drives;
Darfur Solar Cooker Project that works to empower
and protect Darfur
women; blankets and scarves for shelters and
hospitals; organizations
serving those with disabilities; and programs that
provide assistance
to poverty stricken Holocaust survivors and the
frail elderly. The
Biblical verse speaks through them: "A person who
runs to do good
deeds attains life, success & honor." (Prov. 21:21)
as does the
teaching "To save one life is as though you have
saved the world."
