Boca Raton, FL –
Exciting plans are underway for the Inaugural
Golf Tournament benefiting The Unicorn
Children’s Foundation, a Boca Raton-based
non-profit organization
supporting
education, awareness and research initiatives on
behalf of children with communication and
learning challenges.
Scheduled for
Monday, March 30, 2009, the tournament will be
held at The
Falls Country Club in Lake Worth. The day will
include a round of golf at the exclusive club, a
buffet luncheon prior to the 12:15 shotgun
start, and cocktails and hors d’oeuvres during
the awards party at the conclusion of the
tournament. A silent auction, featuring sports
memorabilia, and live auction will also be held
during the event, with all proceeds benefiting
the children’s charity.
Bobby and
Elisabeth Dalfen, Ron and Michelle Yellin,
Jack Stievelman and Doris Taxin, chair this
Inaugural Golf Tournament. “The Falls is a
fabulously designed, challenging private course
that will provide tournament participants with
an outstanding afternoon of play,” said Mrs.
Dalfen.
The tournament’s
fabulous hole-in-one prizes will feature: A
one-year lease on a 2009 Corvette from Millenium
Leasing;
a set of
golf clubs from Palm Beach Golf Center and two
golf carts from Sunshine Golf Car of Delray
Beach.
“It is our goal
and vision to have the tournament proceeds fund
the expansion of a Mobile Screening Clinic that
would serve the Palm Beach County / Treasure
Coast communities,” explained Mrs. Yellin.
In 2008, the
Unicorn Children’s Foundation awarded a grant to
the University of Miami-Nova Southeastern
University Center for Autism and Related
Disorders (UM-NSU CARD) for its Mobile Autism
Screening Clinic – the first of its kind. The
funds enabled UM-NSU CARD to convert a 23-foot
van into a roving clinic, containing an
evaluation room with videotaping equipment that
allows clinicians to assess children in
different situations.
“That mobile
clinic has enabled families with limited
resources to get the assistance they need in
Monroe, Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, and we
hope to soon have the clinic available for
families in the Palm Beach County / Treasure
Coast areas,” said Mrs. Taxin.
Tournament entry
fees are $500 per golfer and multiple
sponsorship opportunities are still available.
