Rolex and its CEO and President Allen Brill backed a winner
once again as presenters of the 21st Career Transitions for
Dancers Jubilee entitled One World, A Spectacular Global
celebration. 21st Anniversary co-chairs Patricia Kennedy and
Anka Palitz, event chairs Denise Cobb, Yolanda Santos Garza,
Janice Becker, and David Goldring packed City Center for a
dazzling extravaganza featuring dancers from twenty companies,
stars such as Liza Minnelli, James Earl Jones, Bebe Nuewirth,

Ballet de Monterey and a sneak peek at a new ballet Puerto
Rico with a dazzling score by Jazz genius Eric Lewis
commissioned by Patricia Kennedy for her longtime friends The
Joffrey Ballet.
Legendary Broadway star Chita Rivera received the Rolex Award
for lifetime achievement from old pal Liza Minnelli. Upon
receiving the custom made diamond studded Rolex Oyster Watch,
she confessed to having lost her own Rolex 3 times getting it
back and finally losing it forever but promised to hang on to
this one quipping “I’ve been blinged”. The Career Transition
for Dancers Award created by Baccarat went to the Rudolf
Nureyev Dance Foundation.
At the star-studded gala Anniversary Waltz with the Dancers
following the performance at the Hilton, a live auction helped
to raise $1.21 million for Career Transitions for Dancers work
to help dancers create a new career when dance is no longer an
option. |
