It was a star studded evening at the Waldorf Astoria on
December 3, 2006 for the MUSEUM of the MOVING IMAGE'S 21st
annual gala salute honoring Will Smith.
Will Smith has been a warm, wonderful presence in our lives
since his television series, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Will
has a vast amount of talent that has enabled him to launch an
astonishing career. He is an actor, comedian, singer, dancer
and visionary who brought hip-hop to a wide crossover
audience. His accomplishments are vast and ongoing.
His new movie, The Pursuit of Happyness, recently opened. It
is the first film starring Will and his son Jaden. He is
currently filming, I am Legend, in New York City.
Next year, the MUSEUM OF THE moving image begins its most
important and exciting project since opening in 1988. There
will be an embarkment on a major expansion with new galleries,
a new theater, an education center, and a new first floor with
a beautiful lobby, cafe, and shop. The expansion will allow
the museum to serve many thousands more students and visitors
throughout the year. THE MOVING IMAGE must continue to
preserve the history of film, television, and digital media.
The MUSEUM is rapidly growing. |
