As never before, women are forced to bear the burdens of the
unprecedented number of wars and civil conflicts raging
worldwide. Many women suddenly become the sole providers for
their families. They are frequently displaced from their
homes. they are often left to rebuild their lives without the
basic necessities for survival or a viable means to earn an
income.
Even though they comprise half the population, women are
regularly excluded from peace negotiations and post-conflict
decision-making processes that directly affect their lives.
Women for Women International provides women survivors of war,
civil strife and other conflicts with the tools and resources
to move from crisis and poverty to stability and
self-sufficiency, thereby promoting viable civil societies. |
