Amaryllis FarmEquine Rescue Event at
Photographer Steven Klein's West Kill
Farm in
Bridgehampton, NY
|
|
The event was hosted by
Steven Klein and Gwyneth
Paltrow. Kelly Klein, Sale
Johnson and Marcy Warren all
co-chaired the event. They
all ride on the and compete
on the hunter/jumper circuit
and are sure to be showing
at the Hampton Classic.
Photographer Steven Klein
has six horses that he rides
for
pleasure at his farm in the
Hamptons. He does not
compete, but rides
forpleasure.
Madonna was the Honorary
Chair, but according to her
rep. and also the event's
planner, although she adores
Klein and is an avid rider
herself, she couldn't
attend. Madonna was in
Manhattan that night
rehearsing for her tour, and
she left the US yesterday.
Nicole Miller, Calvin Klein,
Russell Simmons and Donna
Karan all bought tickets to
the event. There were nearly
600 guests at the farm and
the event grossed over
$200,000.00 that will go to
the Amaryllis Farm Equine
Rescue Organization that is
working to stop the needless
slaughter of horses, ponies,
mules and donkeys for dog
food. Also at the event was
Rosanna Scotto from Fox 5.
Host Gwyneth Paltrow
introduced US Olympic
Dressage Veteran Robert
Dover with a poem in the
equestrian field before
Dover mounted up on
Maksymilian, a beautiful,
nearly black Warmblood
gelding, that had been
rescued from slaughter and
did an exhibition to the
music of "Lament." Through
nurturing
and tutelage, the beautiful
horse has now become a
valued Grand Prix level
dressage mount that is being
sold for $1 million dollars.
This was the first time that
Dover had ridden the horse,
but he had heard about the
fantastic animal.
Steven Klein auctioned off
many original equine
photographs and other
donations to the silent
auction included Stella
McCartney donating an item
from the Linda McCartney
Foundation, an Hermes saddle
and a trip to theDominican
Republic for a fantastic
holiday in a private estate
