Award-winning actor Gabriel Byrne hosted a Grand Classics
screening of The Quiet Man presented by THE WEEK and
cosponsored
by The Diamond Trading Company at SoHo House. Byrne
showcased the 1952 film The Quiet Man directed by
John Ford who received and Oscar for Best Director. The
movie starred John Wayne, best known for his Oscar winning
lead
performance in 1969’s True Grit and Maureen O’Hara who
received a lifetime achievement award in 2004. The evening
benefited
FilmAid International, a nonprofit organization that uses
the power of film to change lives.
Grand Classics currently showcases films in New York,
London, Los Angeles, Aspen, Miami and most recently in
Istanbul. The
screenings feature a selection of the world’s most renowned
actors, among them Michael Caine, Jude Law, Meryl Streep,
Julianne Moore, Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Tim Robbins,
