New York, NY - June 17,
2008 – Mr. and Mrs. Estanne and
Martin Fawer hosted a private
cocktail party and reception for their
friend, New York psychoanalyst Dr.
Robert Schwalbe who has just
released his first book “Sixty,
Sexy, and Successful: A Guide for Aging
Male Baby Boomers” (Greenwood
Press) on Tuesday, June 17. The soiree,
held at the lovely Merrin Gallery at 56th
Street and Fifth Avenue, allowed family,
friends and art lovers to enjoy not only
the gallery’s exhibits but also have the
chance to listen to the new author talk
about his “how to” guide for aging men
and their loved ones and learn why he
decided to write this book.
Among the guests to
mingle over fine wine and hors d’oeuvres
were hotelier Debbie Born,
gallery owners Jane Gol, Dean
Levy ,Tony Ingrao and
Randy Kemper. Art expert Bobbie
Moore, collectors and enthusiasts
Cynthia Nachmani, Gail Billig,
Jane and Bob Altman, and
Michele Gerber Klein spent the early
part of the fete enjoying the
pre-Columbian and South American ancient
works that was strategically placed on
the walls and around the gallery while
discussing the merits of the new read.
Dr. Schwalbe and his wife Janie,
dressed in a gorgeous knee length jacket
and elegant slacks, were not only
celebrating the release of his first
book but their 42nd
anniversary. Their sons Joshua, Jeremy,
and James, who mingled with Kathleen
Gioradano, Avrom Doft, R. Couri Hay and
Sharon Bush, who had already purchased
six copies of the doctor’s “guide” for
friends and family, joined them.
Guests of all of ages
mingled at the intimate affair including
actor William DeMeo of
‘Sopranos’ fame and his friend Angie
Eastwick, Kathy Gantz, Jon Roy
and Susie Hahn. Pink Elephant’s
Justin Estill. Jeremiah Silva,
who told Helen Yarmak Furriers’
Anait Kiladze that he had just
landed a role in ‘Gossip Girl’ the past
weekend in the Hamptons, discussed
upcoming shows and fashion. Designers
Michael Mione and Steve Gross,
Martin Goldman and Dorothy
Dunne all commented with a smile on
the “Sixty, Sexy, and Successful”
buttons that were gifted to all who
attended. Douglas Elliman VP
Victoria Vinokur, Ogden Cap’s,
Louise and Ed Petz, Sr.
VP of Related Properties Judy
Rothembert, wedding planner
and author Harriette Rose Katz,
Ruth Kestenbaum,
and Paula Menche
wandered from room to room, many
purchasing the book and most wearing the
funky little buttons that make a perfect
keepsake for the event.
In the middle of the
party, Dr. Schwalbe took to the podium
for a short speech during which he
discussed some of the more poignant
chapters, including Sex after Sixty,
Ageism, Financial Security and overall
mental, physical and spiritual health.
He concluded by stating, “If we age
gracefully and with wisdom, at the very
least we can all be sixty, sexy and
successful.” At the end of the party,
the doctor and his wife went off to
celebrate their anniversary with an
intimate dinner a deux while other
guests went home to get started on
Chapter # 1, “The Myths and Realities of
Life After 60.”
