Nearly 300
revelers joined the fun at “Tablescapes: Dining by
Design,” a food, wine and tabletop design event
co-hosted by Palm Beach Cottages & Gardens magazine
and Bloomingdale’s that raised nearly $10,000 for
five local organizations.
The editors of
PBC&G chose five civically minded hostesses from
Northern Palm Beach County to create out-of-the-box
table settings using Bloomingdale’s wares from any
department in the store. The tables were on display
the evening of Sept. 10 in the Home Store at
Bloomingdale’s in The Gardens Mall, complemented by
wine from Barefoot Wine & Bubbly and signature
dishes from the five PGA-corridor restaurants that
served as inspiration for the tantalizing table
designs: Strip House of Downtown at the Gardens,
Aqua Grill of Legacy Place, and Sushi Jo, Metronome
Parisian Bistro and Zuccarelli’s of PGA Commons.
“The
hostesses’ designs showcased a key philosophy in the
Bloomingdale’s Home Store that we call ‘The New
Rules,’ which speaks to mixing and matching even the
finest china, glassware, and flatware patterns and
getting creative with table accessories,” said Laura
Gallo, general manager of Bloomingdale’s. “More
importantly, the event was a unique and fun way to
raise money for great causes, with a bit of friendly
competition and delicious tastings from our generous
partners.”
Proceeds were
divided among the five charities represented by each
hostess, including Carrie Hanna of Jupiter Island,
representing the Martin County Chapter of the
American Red Cross; Kelly Hardersen of Jupiter,
representing St. Clare School; Kimberly Lyon of Palm
Beach Gardens, representing Junior League of the
Palm Beaches; Pamela Tekin of Palm Beach Gardens,
representing Easter Seals; and Kathy Williams of
Palm Beach Gardens, representing St. Marks School.
Each table was complete with custom arrangements
from Heaven & Earth Florals.
An esteemed
panel well versed in design and entertaining was on
hand to judge the tables, including Palm Beach
Cottages & Gardens Publisher Eileen Ekstract, Kristi
Lei Bryan of Kristi Lei Interiors in Juno Beach, and
Tony D’Leon of Interiors by the Sea in Jupiter.
Kelly Hardersen’s table for St. Clare School took
the $1,000 prize from Bloomingdale’s for best
overall table.
