With
hundreds in attendance on Wednesday,
August 13th,
Taglit-Birthright Israel
alumni came together for the first
time as a cohesive unit to pay it
forward and raise money to send a
bus to Israel this coming winter. The event
at M2 Ultralounge featured the
musical stylings of O'Neal McKnight
and
DJ Gatsby alongside the comedic
repertoire of VH1's "Best Week Ever"
personality Michelle Collins,
marking the
launch of the “I am Birthright Israel”
campaign with future events planned
across the country.
An
assortment of high-end and high
value raffle prizes was included in
the evening, some of which were; a
Michael Kors handbag, gift
certificate to Bliss Spa, and a pair
of tickets to Israel
on El-Al.
The “I
am Birthright Israel”
campaign invites over 200,000 alumni
to work together in a year-long
national fundraising effort. The
campaign is part of a new initiative
by The Birthright Israel Foundation
to expand its national base of
support to include alumni and their
families. A follow-up west coast
event is planned for October 18th
in
Los Angeles.
About
Taglit-Birthright Israel
Taglit-Birthright
Israel
provides the gift of first time,
peer group, educational trips to Israel
for Jewish young adults ages 18 to
26.
Taglit-Birthright Israel's founders
created this program to send
thousands of young Jewish adults
from all over the world to
Israel as a
gift in order to diminish the
growing division between Israel
and Jewish communities around the
world; to strengthen the sense of
solidarity among world Jewry; and to
strengthen participants' personal
Jewish identity and connection to
the Jewish people. Taglit-Birthright Israel has established itself as the
most successful international Jewish
educational program of the last
generation. It is a unique
partnership between private
philanthropists through The
Birthright Israel Foundation, the
government of Israel,
and Jewish communities around the
world.
