On
Wednesday, December 11, 2013 the Child Mind Institute (
www.childmind.org
) held its 4th Annual
Child Advocacy Award Dinner at Cipriani 42nd Street.
The event, was hosted by Meredith Vieira, and
honored Ram
Sundaram,
partner at Goldman Sachs and founding Child Mind Institute
board member, with the 2013 Child Advocacy Award for his
extraordinary contributions to children’s mental health and
commitment to the Institute’s groundbreaking research on
healthy brain development. Past recipients of the Child
Advocacy Award include: Michael D. Fascitelli (2012), Jane
and Jimmy Buffett (2011), and Gov. Jon S. Corzine (2010).
Pasko Rakic, MD, PhD, director of the Yale Kavli Institute
for Neuroscience, will receive the 2014
Distinguished Scientist Award in recognition of his outstanding
contribution to developmental neuroscience.

This year's dinner highlighted the Child Mind
Institute’s neuroscience research program, which presents an
opportunity for transformative breakthroughs in child mental
health. An auction led by Deborah Roberts and Al Roker will
raise funds for the Institute’s Healthy Brain Network, which
is pioneering innovative, collaborative approaches to brain
research with the ultimate goal of developing biological
tests
for mental illness.
