Celebrating their 40th anniversary, The Green Fields of
America is an ensemble that showcases some of Irish
America's finest traditional performing artists. It was the
first group on either side of the Atlantic to bring together
Irish vocal, instrumental and dance traditions on the
concert and festival stage. Sponsored by the National
Endowment for the Arts a record five times, the Green Fields
has performed all over the United States since the late
1970s.
"Out of that,
eventually, emerged The Green Fields of America, a music and
dance ensemble involving Moloney, Flatley, and others, which
first toured the US in 1978. The group has now lasted 40
years, with at least 40 different members.
But Moloney remains a constant presence..."
