The sparkling jeweled magnificent black panther sculpture
beamed down as Daniela Zahradnikova hosted a Space Sixteen
shopping and networking event at her Soho store on Friday
evening, March 27th.

Black Panther by Greg Holt |
Its creator, muse and curator, she has a vision of the
confluence of luxury fashion, art & design and stewardship
–all merging for a unique shopping and retail
experience. And there it was…event goers bringing shopping
bags of clothing donations for the Wounded Warriors Project,
Gail Travis demonstrating her amazing N.F.P.: flexible
knits, former artist Lauren Chisholm displaying her
elegantly and minimal jewelry, an art exhibit by Sylvia Nagy
& Libby Schoettle and the talented DJ Ryan Taverna filling
Space Sixteen with a very cool vibeindeed.. The evening was
punctuated by a fashion exhibit by young student designer,
Yeoyo Yun. Inspired by Kabuki and the springtime cherry
blossoms of Toyko, her vision is a merger of fashion and
theater. The guests were a wonderful blend of Soho-ites,
uptowners, artists, other designers and friends. |

Press Review |
|
In New York, I had the pleasure of working
with the brand Space
16.
The boutique is located in Manhattan (Soho), opposite the
Grand Hotel. This is a very artistic place and its interior
resembles a “small art museum.” I was most amazed by a
“Dragon” sculpture, which was created by a Hindu artist. The
project took two months, but the effect is amazing.
Beautiful paintings by Philip
Tsiaras in
the interior add character. Philip is an international
artist of Greek origin who lives and works in New York City.
He has had more than 75 one-person exhibitions. His works
are widely collected in prominent museums and private
collections, including the Metropolitan Museum, NY. Space 16
brings together four designers: Catherine Canino, Fairchild
Baldwin, Katherine Hooker, Lorenz Bach. The clothes are
characterized by beautiful colors and interesting, elegant
fashion. Of course, elegance is more than fashion – it’s an
attitude, a lifestyle. Don’t forget that quality and design
come at a cost. I believe that things here are remarkable,
especially for those of you who appreciate the workmanship,
details and quality. Space 16 is a beautiful, artistic
interior, with great, elegant items that are also loved by
the stars. Coats from Katherine Hooker’s collection are worn
by Kate Middleton and Taylor Swift.
P.S
A “few bits” of advice on what to look for
when buying clothes:
- Avoid materials that give the impression
that they are artificial and unpleasant – if that’s what
they feel like then you can be sure that that’s what they
are.
- Never buy clothes with twisted seams.
- If after trying the item on, you feel
uncomfortable and the clothing hinders your movement in any
way, it certainly is poorly cut and sewn.
- The zipper must be sewn evenly and should
easily fasten and unfasten.
- If thread protrudes from the buttons, then
remember that you will have to sew them right after buying
the clothes.
- Sweaters and shirts that hang on hangers
for too long may lose their form.
- Check the label – I recommend wearing
clothes made of natural fibers.
And of course stay tuned to my instagram lovelyimperfect :)
