On a
night
when the
Hamptons
were
crammed
with
special
events,
the
American
Cancer
Society
drew a
capacity
crowd to
the
Bridgehampton
Tennis
and Surf
Club for
the
second
Festive
in Flip
Flops.
Guests
included
Sponsors
Joe
Abruzzese,
President,
Sales,
Discovery
Networks;
Bill
Koenigsberg,
Founder
and CEO
of
Horizon
Media,
and his
wife
Jessica
and
David
Levy,
President
of
Turner
Broadcasting
and his
wife
Nikki.
Also
celebrating
were
Susan
Lucci
and
Helmut
Huber,
Boomer
and
Cheryl
Esiason,
B.
Smith
with her
husband
Dan
Gasby
and last
year’s
host
Mark
Feuerstein
with
his wife
Dana
Klein.
Stacy
London,
the host
and star
of TLC’s
What
Not to
Wear,
proved
to be
charming
as well
as fast
on her
feet.
Later in
the
evening,
she
offered
her
spiked
high
heels
for
auction,
which
resulted
in a
bidding
war
between
fashionistas.
Don
Distasio,
Eastern
division
President
of ACS
told how
in the
past
year the
Society
has help
Long
Islanders.
It
“provided
free
service
to over
3500
patients
and
their
care
givers
and
offered
nearly
1000
rides to
and from
cancer
treatments.”
He
concluded,
“Even as
I look
around
at this
beautiful
site in
this
beautiful
location,
I am
reminded
that
cancer
does not
take the
summer
off and
neither
can we.”
Sherri
Abruzzese,
the
returning
Chair,
asked
everyone
who had
a loved
one or
family
member
affected
by
cancer
to stand
and
remain
standing.
Then,
she
asked
those
who had
a friend
or
someone
they
knew
affected
by
cancer
to
stand.
Point
proved.
Everyone
was
standing.
Guests
included

Passarelli
and
Joseph
Smith,
owners
of Bobby
Van’s
restaurant
and
their
wives
Deena
and
Maria.
Joining
them
were
Kathy
Disastio,
Joni

who
hosted a
kick-off
party in
their
East
Hampton
store
June
30th.
Committee
members

that
healthy
food can
be
tasty.

the red
and
white
spirits.
When
guests
weren’t
dancing
to Peat
Moss and
the
Fertilizers,
they
wandered
down to
the
beach to
toast
marshmallows
in one
of two
barbeque
pits.
