The Mostly Mozart Festival from August 2-27 continued with a young astonishing conductor Pablo Heras-Casado leading the orchestra in a program of Ouverture No. 4 in D major, by Bach, and concluding with Symphony No. 40 in G minor, by Mozart. Before the intermission, Joshua Bell gave an outstanding performance of the Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, by Bruch. Both soloist and conductor received thunderous standing ovations, which were well deserved. The orchestra was led in another program by the excellent conductor Ivan Fischer in Symphony No. 41 in C major, by Mozart. The program also included two rarely performed ecclesiastical works by the composer, sung brilliantly by the Concert Chorale of
New York, directed by James Bagwell, with soloist Lucy Crowe. It was another enjoyable evening at
Avery Fisher Hall.
Lovers of Rent, will be happy to see the slightly revised version that opened Off Broadway at New World Stages, with a talented new cast. We celebrated their opening with a wonderful party at The Glass Hour Tavern.

Summer Shorts 5 are four plays by different playwrights, As they are very short plays, they do not have much to say, in spite of the fine acting.
Harry Haun and Charles Nelson were married at Angus McIndoe restaurant. Rev. Joshua Ellis performed the ceremony. I attended my first same-sex wedding, and it was a lovely occasion.
There was a photo op. for The Submission. The Off Broadway play sounds interesting, with four splendid actors. I look forward to opening night.
There was a photo op. for Man and Boy, starring Frank Langella, which seems like another interesting Broadway play, which I am looking forward to seeing.
