Amy and the Orphans,
by Lindsey Ferrentino,
is a production of the Roundabout Theatre Company. A
brother and sister pick up their sister with Down
Syndrome (a remarkable Jamie
Brewer) to take her to their father's funeral. There
are three other characters in the six member cast,
directed by Scott
Ellis. Unfortunately, the three other cast members
are unattractive overweight, and use the F... word
liberally in their speeches. Two of them remove their
shirts. It is unpleasant.
I attended a photo op for the three cast
members Dan Lauria,
Carolyn McCormick and Rupak
Ginn (photo of
the cast below) of the The
Stone Witch, by Shem
Bitterman, at the Theatre Row Rehearsal Studios, 411
W. 41st St. It opens at the Westside Theatre-Upstairs
on Sunday March 25, and I hope to attend the opening.
I attended a photo op for the five member
cast of Transfers, by Lucy
Thurber, directed by Jackson
Gay. It is a production of MCC
Theater. It opens at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on April
23, and I hope to to attend the opening.
Good for Otto, by David
Rabe, a production of the New Group, opens on
Thursday, March 8. A review will be in my next column.
