Off Broadway, Hotel/Motel consists of two one act plays that take place in the back room of the Gershwin Hotel. Pink Knees on Pale Skin is about two married couples, who see a sex therapist to solve their problems. The second play Animals and Plants takes place in a motel in North Carolina, where two drug dealers are awaiting their contact. The audience is limited to just twenty and in the confined space, the actors have to be commended for their unselfconscious performances, which includes male nudity. Both plays are long with unsatisfying endings.
Michael Feinstein is a marvelous performer, and has appeared recently in duets in cabaret with artists like Barbara Cook, Cheyenne Jackson and David Hyde Pierce. Now to open the cabaret season at Feinstein's at Loews Regency, he has paired up with Linda Eder for a lively, entertaining evening entitled Two for the Road until October 1. Many of the selections are new. Linda sings two songs by Frank Wildhorn, and Michael has unearthed Thirteen Women. I heartily recommend this excellent show. Opening night they received applause from Liza Minnelli, Regis and Joy Philbin, and Jenny Steinbrenner and her daughter Haley.
Susan Lucci had A Friars Book Warming at the Friars Club. Her book All My Life is excellent, and her fans will enjoy reading it. Broadway producer Irv Welzer produced the delightful event, and Freddie Roman, Stewie Stone and Len Cariou were among the many guests.
I was late for the Spring 2012 Fashion Show of 2(X)ist men's fashion underwear at the Hiro Ballroom, and missed the Runway Show, which everyone said was fabulous. However, I did enjoy a cocktail while talking to many of the attractive models and Broadway performers.
Whoopi Goldberg and Rin Tin Tin were the stars at a lovely reception for the official kickoff for the American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards at the National Arts Club.
Another beautiful reception was held at Doyle New York for the auction of the estate of Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. Many years ago, I photographed his wedding to Vera Fairbanks, who hosted the event. Byron Janis, Maria Cooper Janis and Arlene Dahl were among the guests.

Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett, the stars of Mountaintop, were interviewed by Adam Green at the Giorgio Armani Boutique on Fashion Night Out. Madison Avenue was crowded with all the stores serving champagne to lady shoppers and many celebrities. We met the legendary fashion designer Valentino on the Avenue.
It was a night full of activities, which ended for me at my monthly new cast party of Love, Loss, and What I Wore at B. Smith's Restaurant. Producer Daryl Roth is opening a production of the hit show in Chicago this month.
I attended a photo op. at Sardi's for Relatively Speaking, three one-act plays by Ethan Coen, Elaine May and Woody Allen. It will open on Broadway on October 20. The fifteen member cast will be directed by John Turturro, and I look forward to seeing it.
Bar Basque is a trendy restaurant, and I attended a reception to see Fabrications, an evening of live performances and special video on a 30-foot screen. It was quite a fascinating occasion, with models wearing avant-garde costumes and unusual jewelry. The video was colorful and impressive, and many of the artists involved were present..
