Fetch Clay, Make Man, by Will
Power, is based on
the strange relationship between the boxer Muhammad
Ali (Ray
Fisher) and first black film star to have his name credited on
film Stepin
Fetchit (K.
Todd Freeman). It's an interesting drama that takes place in
1965 before a rematch of the heavyweight boxing match between Ali
and Sonny Liston. The two
actors are very convincing as the historical figures.
A Meet & Greet was held for The
Landing, a new musical by John
Kander, starring David
Hyde Pierce. I am looking forward to it.
A Pre-Gala Cocktail Reception was held for Career
Transition For Dancers at
the elegant home of Ann
Van Ness, who is one of the honorees on October 8 at the28th
Anniversary Jubilee Broadway & Beyond. Ann-Margret and Harlequin
Floors are also being
honored on that occasion. Exquisite drinks and delicious hors
d'oeuvres were served.
A reception was held at the Gallery of New World Stages for the
exhibition That Face:
The Art of Ken Fallin - Broadway, Hollywood & Wall Street.
It is a wonderful selection of famous celebrities and well worth a
visit.
