The Fantasticks,
book and lyrics by Tom
Jones, music
by Harvey
Schmidt, at
the Jerry Orbach Theatre, is the longest running
stage production in the United States. It is a
charming chamber musical about a pair of young
lovers, who after separating, are reunited for a
happy ending. The music is pleasant and the current
cast is excellent.
Marie and Rosetta,
by George
Brant, at the Atlantic Theatre, is about an
experienced, older gospel singer rehearing with a
younger singer in a funeral home filled with
coffins. The 90-minute intermission-less play is
filled with the two singers singing gospel and swing
songs. That is entertaining, because they have fine
voices. The two actresses are directed by Neil
Pepe.
Spamilton,
created, written and directed by Gerard
Alessandrini, at the Triad Theatre, is a parody
of the hit Broadway show Hamilton and
its creator Lin-Manuel
Miranda. Alessandriniwho was responsible for 25
editions of Forbidden
Broadway, The five member cast and two guest
artists sing well and are quite funny. If you cannot
get a ticket to the Broadway show, this is a
pleasant alternative.
173 Perry Street is
a luxurious apartment building, and we watched a
sunset unveiling from an elegant duplex apartment,
invited by Friedman Rosenthal Team of
Halstead Property. A fine rose wine was served with
scrumptious hors d'oeuvres by Cipriani.
It was gorgeous way to watch a sunset in a lovely
setting
