CITYarts and the Samsung Experience engage students from
Harlem in an exploration of digital photography
On July 7th 2011, twenty students from Central
Harlem made the Samsung Experience their playground.
CITYarts, a public art organization that just celebrated its
43rd anniversary, and the Samsung Experience, an
interactive brand emporium located in the Time Warner Center
at Columbus Circle, joined forces to kick-off the CITYarts
mural project at the Polo Grounds Community Center in
Central Harlem. Steve Lee and Daniel Gordon, two educators
at Samsung, led students on an interactive tour of Samsung’s
digital innovations, and afterwards distributed twelve
digital cameras for a scavenger hunt throughout the center.
The cameras were then donated to CITYarts to document the
mural project that will be carried out at the end of July.
