23rd Annual Hearts of Gold
Fundraiser
Palm Beach, FL (March 8,
2012) – The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary held their 23rd
Annual Hearts of Gold Luncheon at The Sailfish Club in Palm
Beach on March 8th. The event drew in over 120 people for
the luncheon, silent auction and guest speaker, Harvey E.
Oyer, III. The luncheon netted over $26,000 to support the
many programs in the community provided by The Salvation
Army.
The event co - chairs
were Ms. Carol Brummett and Mrs. Maria Mamlouk. Mr. Henry
“Budge” Jamison graciously sponsored The Salvation Army at
The Sailfish Club. Noted historian, author and lawyer
Harvey E. Oyer, III, spoke about the history of Palm Beach
County and the 90th Anniversary of Salvation Army
beginning work in Palm Beach County. Sponsors for the
luncheon included; Ackerman, Link & Sartory and Phyllis
Freed.
The Salvation Army
extends its helping hands of service in over 130 countries.
The Salvation Army of Palm Beach County has reached out
continuously to thousands of men, women and children while
serving the Palm Beaches since 1922. The Salvation Army of
Palm Beach County provides a multitude of services to our
community, including shelter for formerly homeless males,
social services to the entire county, the Community Center
in downtown West Palm Beach, Christmas toys/clothing for
needy children and holiday gifts to Nursing homes, VA
Hospital and correctional facilities.
During 2011, the Women’s
Auxiliary raised funds to provide $40,000 in financial
assistance to the county. Those programs funded included;
Northwest Community Center operating cost, Friday night
programming and summer day camp where inner city children
have a safe haven; Social Services to serve people living in
the communities on the shores of Lake Okeechobee; the Center
of Hope Mentoring Program where individuals receive quality
care at The Salvation Army live-in facility, and a gift to
one of twenty three Mexico Children’s Homes operated by The
Salvation Army.
