Andrea and John Stark opened their Palm Beach home for a reception to kick off the American Friends of The Hebrew University’s 2011 Scopus Award Gala, to be held on Saturday, Jan. 29th at The Breakers.
The event took place Dec. 18 and honored the chairmen and executive committee members for the Gala.
Israel’s Ambassador Moshe Arad was the guest of honor at the reception, along with Diane Belfer and her children Sherry and Kenneth Endelson, who will be honored at the Scopus Awards Gala.
Dinner chairmen for the gala will be Roberta and Stanley Bogen, Ellen and Irwin Levy and Barbara and Richard Rothschild.
Others attending the reception were: Congressman Eric Cantor (R-Virginia), Linda and Peter Berley, Mickey and Larry Beyer, Joan and Robert Eigen, Ann and Robert Fromer, Barbara and Morton Mandel, Sylvia Olnick, Susan and Darrell Ross, Judy and Robert Snyder, Louise and Michael Stein, Robbie and Bruce Toll, Lois and Martin Zelman, and Jane and Ronald Zimmerman.
“We were delighted to host this reception for the American Friends of the Hebrew University as we officially kickoff plans and events for the Scopus Gala here in Palm Beach next month,” noted Mrs. Stark. “The Gala generates scholarships for leaders, healers and innovators at this world-class institution, which provides a vital link for those dedicated to supporting Israel. John and I were particularly pleased that Ambassador Moshe Arad and Congressman Cantor could be with us.”
Proceeds benefit The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, founded in 1918 by Albert Einstein, Chaim Weizmann, Sigmund Freud and others. Today the University has a student body of 23,000, a faculty of 1,000 and attracts students from Israel as well as from 50 countries around the world.
