(February 4, 2011) —More than 100 members the Norton Museum’s esteemed group of donors the Society of Fellows, attended a VIP reception and private tour of the 14th Annual Art Palm Beach on Thursday, Jan. 20. Also that evening, the Young Friends of the Norton hosted an entertaining reception at the contemporary art fair, which featured a dynamic array of photography, video installation art, sculpture and design from 75 galleries around the world.

The Norton Museum celebrates its 70th birthday in February. To commemorate the occasion, the Museum will host a free “Birthday Bash” on Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. that features a museum-wide treasure hunt; curator talks and tours; a history lesson by Palm Beach’s “two-legged landmark” James Ponce; a vintage car display by Ragtops Palm Beach; festive musical performances; and a Norton-inspired cake display created by 15 local pastry chefs. Also in February, the Museum will open two exciting new exhibitions: Fabulous Fakes: The Jewelry of Kenneth Jay Lane organized by the
Museum of
Art, Rhode Island School of Design, Feb. 3 – May 1; and To Live Forever: Egyptian Treasures from the Brooklyn Museum, Feb. 12-May 8.
