Kravis Center Supporters Celebrate
at Annual Black Tie Gala Featuring Frankie
Valli & the Four Seasons
|
|
It was a
delightful night of sensational
entertainment and extraordinary food as
the Raymond
F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts hosted
its annual benefit gala on February 11.
The black-tie dinner-dance included a
hand-clapping hip-swaying performance by
the real life “Jersey Boys” – the
incredible Frankie
Valli & the Four Seasons.
This
annual fundraiser was once again chaired
by
Laurie S. Silvers, a
member of the Kravis Center Board of
Directors
who is Chair of the Employee Relations
Committee and also serves
on the Board’s Development Committee.
Ms.
Silvers thanked the close to 400
attendees for their “support and
commitment to the ongoing mission of the
Kravis Center as the premier performance
venue for international artists as well
as local and regional arts groups. From
classical to cutting edge, from pop and
rock to Beethoven and Broadway, the
Kravis Center is indeed the cultural
beacon in our community. People count on
us being here.”
She
then paid tribute to the Gala
sponsors, including
Irene & Jim Karp and Henni
& John Kessler for
sponsoring the performance
of Frankie Valli and the Four
Seasons; Helen
K. Persson for
sponsoring the magnificent Gala
Décor; Kathryn
& Leo A. Vecellio for
the dinner by Special Impressions at
The Kravis Center, Catering by The
Breakers; Dorothy
& Sidney Kohl for
sponsoring the Dinner-Dance
Orchestra; and
Ingrid & David Kosowsky for
the lovely Reception before the
performance. Ms. Silvers also
acknowledged Stephen
L. Brown, Gunster and Bill
Perry, James W. Harpel, Jack &
Goldie Wolfe Miller,
Jane M. Mitchell, The Breakers and Paul
Leone, and her
husband,
Mitchell Rubinstein,
for their sponsorship support.
William A. Meyer,
Chairman of the Kravis Center Board
of Directors, also thanked the crowd
for its ongoing support, reminding
them that their attendance at the
Gala goes “a long way in
helping us raise the $4.3 million we
must raise each year just to
approach breaking even.”
“This
year the Kravis Center’s operating
budget is $21 million,”
Mr. Meyer explained. “Ticket sales
represent just 80 percent of this
budget so contributions from our
loyal donors help us to balance our
budget and keep ticket prices
affordable.”
The
Kravis Center’s annual Gala included a
cocktail reception, prime reserved
seating for the concert by Frankie Valli
& the Four Seasons, followed by a
black-tie dinner-dance in the Gimelstob
Ballroom in the Cohen Pavilion. The
scrumptious dinner featured a study of
seafood (chilled shrimp, sliced lobster
tail, coconut-marinated jumbo lump crab
and American caviar), sous vide beef
tenderloin with sweet potato salad and
goat cheese ravioli, sunburst squash and
artichoke hearts, followed by a trio of
chocolate desserts.
The
dinner-dance entertainment was provided
by Fred Astaire Studios of
Palm Beach County, and additional
support was provided by Tiffany & Co.
