Your act of giving has never had so much impact.
Take a moment to read stories of how Angelwish gifts
have impacted the lives of children in need
with chronic illnesses all over the country.
It is a real gift to be invited into a families
experience, particularly at this extremely
vulnerable time. It is also very humbling to be the
liason for the community that is providing time,
generosity & compassion for these often overlooked
children and families. - Social
Worker at the Jersey Shore Medical Center
The movie theater gift cards have been great. one
family got to see the kids' first movie and one boy
took his mother out on a "date" - Hackensack,
New Jersey
For many of our patients this is the only Christmas
they get. This is either due to their parents being
deceased or that there is no financial way to afford
a holiday. These presents are anticipated by our
patients yearly. - New
York, New York
We had a mom come and pick up toys from your program
in the past and, with tears in her eyes, she thanked
us for the items telling us that those were the only
items she would be able to give her 5 kids that year
- otherwise, they would have nothing on Christmas
morning. She was so grateful for the small amount of
items we were able to provide with the help from
your program. - Memphis,
Tennessee
A single mother with HIV cried when her daughter was
presented with the Angelwish gift, the Harry Potter
gift set. She said that her daughter was a huge
Harry Potter fan, and her daughter had wanted the
books for a long time ans she was unable to provide
them for her. Both mother and daughter were equally
excited with the books. Another HIV Positive Patient
was extremely grateful for the presents for her
children, her husband was recently laid off and they
were worrying about providing gifts for their young
children. The entire family was elated by the
presents the children received. It was exciting to
see parents as excited as their children when gifts
were open. - Morgantown,
West Virginia
Last year a generous donar donated an mp3 player to
an HIV infected teen. He now listens to it whenever
he has to go to the lab for blood draws (which he
hates) and it relaxes him. Thank you! - Long
Beach, California
One of our clients said that he could not have given
his kids any gifts last Christmas if not for the
Angelwish program! He is a single father struggling
with health issues and sincerely appreciates the
help (as do we!) - Billings,
Montana
Angelwish provided us with a number of kits for
collecting bugs as well as a butterfly farm. On one
of our service evenings we held a nature themed
evening with a trip to the local park. One of the
children was particularly fascinated with bugs and
was very intrigued with what he discovered. We are
looking forward to presenting him with the kit at
the Christmas party. I think we may have a future
botanist on our hands! - London,
United Kingdom
Every gift we give makes a difference to the
children in terms of self respect. Many have never
been given anything of good quality before. A
highlight last year is about a family we have been
working with for years, some of the children in the
family are positive some are not. The family are
just getting out of destitution and have been living
hand to mouth for years. We were able to give each
child a good quality christmas gift last year. This
raised their self esteem and self worth considerably
as they were able to go into school after christmas
and tell their classmates what they got for
christmas for the first time in their lives - Manchester,
United Kingdom

Children Living With Chronic Illnesses
Become aware
Chances are that someone you know has a chronic illness such
as Asthma, Diabetes, Kidney Disease, or one of the many
other medical conditions that require frequent attention,
treatment, and sometimes even hospitalization.. Imagine how
a child's life can be disrupted by having to prick
themselves several times a day to test their blood sugar?
How a child with hemophilia must abstain from recess to
ensure they don't injure themselves?
Angelwish was founded in 1999 to ensure that each and every
child affected by HIV/AIDS would have an enjoyable childhood
- along the way, we realized how the work that we do could
help even more children who are not experiencing the same
happy childhood that we have. Join us and grant a holiday or
birthday wish to a child living with Chronic Illness in the
United States or United Kingdom through our special
Amazon.com wishlists or contribute to the life sustaining
needs of children overseas.

About Angelwish
What We Do
-
Online Birthday and
Holiday Wish Granting
Angelwish pioneered the concept of digital philanthropy,
engaging the public to provide critical psychosocial and
educational support for children and adolescents living
with chronic illnesses all over the world.
-
International Giving
Angelwish offers donors the opportunity to support over
32 programs overseas, where monetary contributions have
the greatest impact. Angelwish collects these funds from
the public and redistributes 100% of the money to the
partner organization to use for medical, nutritional,
and educational purposes.
-
Angelwish Holiday Toy Drive
Angelwish operates the physical distribution of toys
donated by the Today Show Charitable Foundation. Though
our roots are in online fulfillment of wishes, Angelwish
is able to support our core values by reaching more
children and encouraging civic engagement as a result of
this drive.
-
Angelwish Giving Sprees
Angelwish takes school children on Angelwish Giving
Sprees at various toy stores or bookstores, talking to
them about children living with chronic illnesses all
over the country, and then asking them to select toys
for those children using our money to pay for the items.
Participating children go on to associate giving back
with something fun.
-
Angelwish Educational Support
Angelwish believes that there is a gap in support to at
risk children with chronic illnesses and that our
network and services can have an even greater impact on
the educational opportunities for children.

Mission Statement
Angelwish helps busy
people grant wishes to children living with chronic
illnesses all over the world while teaching the next
generation about the power of giving.
Angelwish.org was created in 1999 with the mission to
provide the public with an easy way to grant wishes to
the millions of children that are living with HIV/AIDS
around the world. Infected or affected by the disease,
their opportunities for a "normal" childhood are
virtually impossible. By harnessing the power of the
Internet, Angelwish helps donors add a ray of hope to
their lives. In 2010, after 10 years of focusing on
HIV/AIDS, Angelwish expanded its mission to include
children living with chronic illnesses such as asthma,
diabetes and kidney disease.
Angelwish achieves its mission by ensuring that 100% of
individual donations are used for program services and
that those funds incorporate an educational component
giving young people a hands on lesson in philanthropy.
Angelwish is a registered 501(c)3 charitable
organization in the United States and is Registered
Charity No. 1141090 in the United Kingdom.

North America
Together, we can make holidays and birthdays something
to celebrate for children living with Chronic Illnesses
all over the country. Start by selecting a state, city,
and care center that means something to you. You can
grant a wish through the wishlist or you can make a
donation and we'll take school children on an Angelwish
Giving Spree to buy birthday presents for the children
we support.
Internationally
According to the World Health Organization, the
increase in chronic diseases is a global epidemic
that has mainly been either ignored or seen as less
important than other health issues. This is
especially true in developing countries.
However, the truth is that 80% of all chronic
disease deaths occur in low and middle income
countries. People from developing countries who
develop chronic diseases are also more likely to die
from them at a younger age than people in the
developed world.
This is because chronic diseases and poverty tend to
go hand in hand. Impoverished people are usually
more vulnerable to these conditions, as they are
exposed to more risks and have less access to health
services. Chronic diseases also hurt economic
development and worsen poverty as people are forced
to miss work and pay for medical expenses.

plight of underprivileged children and has used his contacts
in these countries to help them as much as possible
Paul is currently a Director of Credit Suisse in charge of

continue travelling. Returning to the UK, Michael took up a
role at the London office of Next Jump, a New York

currently helping grow the Marketing and Technology team.
Shimmy Mehta, founder
Early in his career with a Big Four
accounting firm, Shimmy saw the need for a simple and
rewarding way for busy people like himself to get involved
in the community. He quickly tapped into his network of
contacts and mentors to pioneer the concept of digital
philanthropy through Angelwish.org, spending the greater
part of his 9 years at the Firm matching the resources of
his peers with the needs of the many children who were
living with HIV/AIDS.
In 2006, Shimmy sent his resignation by text message, took
the helm of Angelwish in the US, jumped over the pond to
start up Angelwish in the UK, and co-founded another
nonprofit called "Karma Geek". In 2009-2010, during what was
possibly the worst economic climate to hit nonprofits, he
made unorthodox decision to expand services to include
children in need who were dealing with Chronic Illnesses.
