Harmony Liu's
Poetry Debut Successfully Published
In September 2022, the poetry series
EMPOWERED
of the famous national youth poetry publisher
young Writers in the United States
selected 153 outstanding students from the submissions of thousands of
students from hundreds of middle schools.
Poetry works, as the first batch of content to be published in 2022, among
them,
Harmony Liu ,
from Jericho High School in Long Island, New York,
her first poetic work
A Will To Live ls Easy To Come By And Hard" To Keep
was fortunate to be selected for inclusion.
Since 1991, here at Young Writers have celebrated the
awesome power of creative writing, especially in young
adults where it can serve as a vital method of expressing
their emotions and views about the world around them.
In every poem we see the effort and thought that each
student published in this book has put into their work and
by creating this anthology they hope to encourage them
further with the ultimate goal of sparking a life-long love
of writing.
The publisher wrote in the foreword to the book:
“Our latest contest for high school students, Empowered, challenged young
writers to consider what was important to them.
We wanted to give them a voice, the chance to express
themselves freely and honestly, something which is so
important for these young adults to feel confident and
listened to.
They could give an opinion, share a memory, consider a
dilemma, impart advice or simply write about something they
love.
There were no restrictions on style or subject so you will
find an anthology brimming with a variety of poetic styles
and topics.
We hope you find it as absorbing as we have.”
“We encourage young writers to express themselves and
address subjects that matter to them, which sometimes means
writing about sensitive or contentious topics.
If you have been affected by any issues raised in this book,
details on where to find help can be found at

Harnony Liu
has loved reading since she was a child and has a strong
interest
in literary creation.

statements and news interviews on environmental protection
issues many times.
Her writing potential has been recognized by her teacher
and his Accredited by university professors interviewed.
Not long ago, she worked with Mr. Richard Jordan,
a UN worker, to complete a book on the history
of the development of UN NGOs.
The Poem
A Will To Live ls Easy To Come By And Hard To Keep
is the debut poem published by Harmony Liu,
expressing her reflection on life as a new generation, her persistent
pursuit of ideals and freedom, and her sincere tribute to
life.
In this poem, she describes the hope, predicament, pain, perseverance,
victory, and the ultimate realization of the soul and the
world to travel together, never stop, stop for a while at
the stage of success, and climb the peak of life by
describing the hope, predicament, pain, perseverance, and
victory of climbing the peak.
It expresses that life is like a rope on a cliff, and there
is no way out except to climb hard!
Encourage young people to work hard on the road of life!
I wish Harmony Liu, who is a young generation of writing
enthusiasts, can realize his dream and realize his lifelong
love for writing through outstanding efforts and love and
sublimation of life.
The full text of the poem is as follows:
A Will To Live ls Easy To Come By And Hard To Keep
Living
Is a precarious situation.
It is dangling off the side of a mountain cliff
Holding on by a single rope
The wind,billowing with snow
Threatens to pull me under
Into Hades' embrace.
How fascinating it would be to meet her
To see what comes after
Floating down the River Styx
Accompanied by souls like mine.
Shall I dissipate into oblivion
And be reborn as another?
Or does my journey end here
Standing on one of four river docks?
I would like to find out for myself
Let my curiosity smother me.
But I am still hanging over the edge of this cliff
Rope-burned hands gripping tight
Knuckles aching
Frostbitten fingers refusing to let go.
When the time comes
I will find the strength to pull myself over
And rest in the soft, snowy ground of success.
Perhaps I will travel somewhere warm
Befriend the sun and watch the Earth
Spin on her axis.
I will be powerful in my triumph.
