2010 Award recipients:
The Hallam Family
(Outstanding Philanthropist): the personal contributions
from the Hallam family and their company, Ben E. Keith,

their sons, Robert, Howard, John and six grandchildren. The
Hallam family’s impact is evident in the arts, education,
social services, healthcare, and their churches. For the
past seven years, Howard Hallam has been the Chair of the
AT&T Performing Arts Center Board of Directors, where
fundraising efforts have resulted in over $325 million for

six designated beneficiaries: Baylor Health Care System
Foundation, Methodist Health System Foundation, The
University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas,
Communities Foundation of Texas, The Salvation Army in
Dallas County and the educational trust fund of the Roman
Catholic Diocese of Dallas. In 2009 the foundation provided

Parkland Hospital scheduled to open at the end of the year
in 2014 with more than $90 million received so far.

Dallas Food Pantry, an affiliate of the North Texas Food
Bank. Approximately 350 people attend the carnival which
includes games, food, entertainment and a silent auction.
Inspired by her philanthropic parents Erica and Bill,
longtime MDA volunteers, Leah wanted to do something to help
a friend and others with muscular dystrophy, and in the
process she has inspired many friends to embrace the concept
of giving to others.

community leaders. National Philanthropy Day celebrates
