Thunder and Lightning, a new play
being presented on Tuesday, February 22nd
and Wednesday, February 23rd, at
the
Baruch Performing Arts Center (Lexington
Avenue/25th Street); curtain is
at 7pm sharp.
Thunder and Lightning
takes place in 1947, on the day that
Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in
Major League sports. Two players, Thunder,
the veteran, and Lightning, the rookie, on a
Negro League team, the Jersey Storm, via for
a contract to the big leagues.
Only one player
will be chosen.
Thunder and Lightning is a
drama about individuals standing on the
threshold of opportunity and the issues of
race and racism that cloud their dreams for
a brighter future. It’s a terrific play --
a beautifully constructed story, with great
characters, a relevant theme, and wonderful
humor.
